Pixel's Google Sync features are
- Call logs and sms backups
- Contacts backups
- Photos and videos backups
- App data backups
- Device settings backups
Step 1: Turning on Google backup from settings
It's already activated if you have a Stock Rom or Android One installed. Others should open their
Settings apps >
Look for backups options and restore options (or search backups in the search menu) >
Now you will see Google Backups and restore services (name may vary on your device look) >
Select the option and turn on backup options and mark everything under it
Now you need to go to Phone Settings then Accounts > Choose your Google Account > Toggle everything you want to sync
Now you have almost performed backup of your data to Google Cloud Account.
Step 2: Syncing Call logs and SMS
In the settings menu it says it backups call logs and sms automatically but I don't think does unless you are using Google Phone and Android Messages as default.
Step 3: Syncing Contacts
The backing up of contacts was enabled in the first step, that means contacts that are stored under your Google account will be backed up but we want to sync all contacts present in the phone. To do this you need to go to your Contacts apps then go to
Settings >
Display Preferences > Choose All
Select Import/Export Contact > Select Export > Save the export file
Select Import/Export Contact > Select Import > Select the import file you saved earlier > Choose Import to Google Account
Now next time you create a new contact save it under your Google account.
Step 4: Syncing Photos and Videos
To backup all your photos and videos you need to add Google Photos app. You can download the app from playstore for free and sign in with your Google Account. The app will automatically ask you to backup photos remember photos of original quality consumes your drive storage, the optimized quality upload gives you unlimited photos storage. Videos are always stored under your Drive Storage, so if you ran out of storage you will need to pay for extra storage.
Step 5: App Data and Device Settings
These things are automatically backed up to your Google account you don't need to worry about it.
